Repair of Laney Cup 10. |
The amplifier is purchased in "The Blue Newspaper". The seller claimed that it played flawlessly, but he was very dependent on "Reverb" So he would like to sell it! The amplifier was turned on and it did not sound very good and after some time (about 5 minutes) it fell out and came again, It indicated a loose connection or a bad soldering. After further 5 min. The filament in one of the 2 power tubes 6V6GT burned out. The amplifier was opened, the circuit board removed, all solder joints were warmed through and all connections were controle. I had a single 6V6 of another brand and a set of 6L6 matched in the drawer. The amplifier was tested with both tube combinations, although the 6L6 tubes are much higher output power It played well, but the factory-mounted Chinese-made "Celestion" Tube 10 speaker sounded terrific. |

The newly purchased output tubes, along with 2 NOS Philips MiniWatt ECC83 tube from the drawer was mounted. |

A new 10 "Celestion" Greenbag speaker is purchased and mounted. With the changes, it has become a completely different amplifier that plays with a warm and soft tone. |
A small video with a sound sample of how the amplifier sounds. |
