Restoration of Höfner Electric guitar model 172 of 1962.

The guitar is almost intact, but Vinyl cladding has come loose in several places on the edge of the body.

The two Tee-cup buttons have lost gold cover, electronics are in disarray, and vibrato part missing

the thumb screw for clamping the vibrato arm and the vibrato is very rusty.

The edge fillet is gently removed and the loose vinyl is heated and glued to the body.

The vibrato is completely separated and the rusty parts are cleaned,

sanded and painted with black Hammer lacquer.

The pivot shaft of the vibrator is mounted in roller bearings, genuine German quality.

I have managed to track down an original diagram of the electronics.

The electronics are examined and cleaned, potentiometers replaced with

similar cases of another Höfner. And the pickups are in good condition.

A little alternative tightening of vinyl on edges.

The fully renovated guitar.

The back is also intact, the guitar is now complete renovated.

The strings are in a good height above the freet board.

It has a very nice appearance, of a 50 year old lady to be.

The suitcase is probably the one that took the most damage of years, but with glue and paint,

is the damage repaired so that it now appears lovingly restored.
